ANXIETY AND DEPRESSIONWith anxiety and depression comes a loss of hope and a sense of confusion. What to do? Why not look at it as a loss of Higher Self? Irene's approach begins with Talk Therapy. Having someone listen and reflect as you talk begins to bring clarity. Within yourself are many answers. Learn to listen to what you are saying to yourself and others. Learning to stop mind chatter and self-defeating thoughts is important. Words will manifest the Self, but not necessarily your Higher Self. So, learn a different dialogue. Irene will help you learn this new dialogue, which will help modify your mind's pattern and approach and start you on your new path. Eliminating guilt and shame also can be an important step. Irene teaches organizational and relaxation skills and treats low self-esteem. Daily routines have to be analyzed. It is hard to live with continual pain and with physical limitations. Emotions can exacerbate pain. To make real progress, you may have to begin to realistically look at limitations and go through the grief and loss stages that accompany that adjustment. Irene also teaches visualization and relaxation techniques that help alleviate some of the pain. Chronic pain and illness are often misunderstood. Sometimes, family members and friends do not understand the illness and the effect on the client. If possible, family members and friends are included in the therapeutic process and the process of adjusting to a new lifestyle. FAMILY CONFLICTHere, Irene looks more at interaction than individual actions. She keeps the family structure/system in mind: how it builds up or tears down the individual. When conflict occurs, it takes more than one, or even two, to change. Perceptions of each other may have to change, too, and those perceptions and expectations come from understanding each other and learning to work together. GRIEF AND LOSSGrief and loss goes through somewhat predictable states that include denial, bargaining, depression, anger and acceptance. It is important to go through all of these states, and to stay with the emotions and thoughts of these stages. It is important to find support during this time, also. Irene will ensure you are not alone in this process. RELATIONSHIP ISSUESRelationships nurture and relationships tear you up. They are hard and you seem to mistreat the most the ones who are closest. Your issues surface faster in the most intimate relationships. Learning to listen to and understand the other when you are most angry and hurt is difficult, yet it is possible and vitally important. Irene, through a variety of techniques, can help you approach those most important to you. It is important to build relationships with good feelings and good experiences. POOR SELF-ESTEEMPoor self-esteem occurs when your emotional needs are not met. And to a certain extent, it happens to everyone. You must go back, into your past, and evaluate what you we missed and begin to give it to yourself. You don’t stay in blame or emptiness. Instead, you fill in those holes to make yourself feel whole and complete. Irene can help you through this. UNDERACHIEVEMENTHere, you find what the perception of your shortcomings are. Some perceptions are accurate and others aren’t. Sometimes, you have just lacked confidence to try. Sometimes, you did not learn the skills to succeed. Again, Irene helps you go back and see what you need. You then begin teaching yourself and filling in your gaps. |
